Doing Coast to Coast for the first time?

I would recommend the first thing you do is get a coach. If you know someone from your area there are added benefits:
- They will know where all the best training spots are
- They can hook you up with other athletes of similar ability
- They know the local races and can incorporate them into your training
- They can advise which clubs might be good to join
- You can meet with them regularly if need be
Coaches are an invaluable source of information and should be able to give you advice on everything including what gear you need, nutrition, training advice and racing tips. All going to plan, they will get you to the start line in the best possible shape and with all the right advice.
