Practical Road Bike Skills (Wellington)
This course is split into two groups to specifically cater for introductory and intermediate level riders.
Introductory
This two hour practical course is designed to help road cyclists learn the principles of braking, cornering and general bike handling. The knowledge gained will assist in both safety and confidence and add to overall riding enjoyment.
Intermediate
This two hour practical course builds on the core skills of the Introductory course and introduces the skills necessary for riding safely in a group or bunch (peloton) including drafting, pace lines and echelons, lapping, signals and hazards, picking up a dropped chain, riding on and off a wheel, eating and drinking on your bike, rider contact, awareness, anticipation and your safety zone.
“Thanks for this workshop. As a newer cyclist, I learnt so much in just 2 hours. Most importantly one of the drills we practiced definitely kept me upright and safe when a truck’s mirror clipped my shoulder. I’d definitely recommend this course to everyone” Louise Hockley
"Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the course on Saturday! I learned so much and Peter was amazing and so patient and kind - he never made me feel like an idiot and I really appreciate that! Thanks again for the fabulous opportunity" Kerrie Cole, February 08
The session was exellent, I made a significant improvement in a very short space of time" David McCallum, November 08
I just wanted to pass on my thanks to Peter for today's workshop. I feel that I made a huge improvement in my riding skills in the two hours. I'm left wondering how I've been out there riding for a year and a half without it! Peter was fantastic - very patient and encouraging, and I can highly recommend his workshops to everyone.
